Government to push for better diversity in science

The government wants to know how much research money is going to women and Māori scientists. It says that's the first step in lifting participation and increasing diversity in the sector. The Ministry for Business Innovation and Employment will gather data around who is receiving the 650 million dollars in science funding. The Minister Megan Woods told science reporter Charlie Dreaver science is one of the worst sectors in New Zealand for diversity.
