NZ detainees in Australia band together after centre riot

From Morning Report, 7:14 am on 4 September 2018

A New Zealand detainee inside West Australia's Yongah Hill Detention Centre says New Zealanders are banding together to give each other support after a riot broke out at the weekend. Police are still at the Yongah Hill Immigration Detention Centre, after some detainees set fire to accommodation units. The unrest started after a young Iraqi detainee was found in his cell with serious injuries following an apparent suicide attempt. Wellington-born Alan Tuhou says they were herded into a mess hall where they had to sleep on paper towels to try to keep warm. He speaks to RNZ reporter Anneke Smith.
