Brazil museum fire: Millions of artefacts destroyed in blaze

From Morning Report, 6:12 am on 4 September 2018

A large chunk of Brazil's history has gone up in smoke. Yesterday a huge fire ripped through the country's National Museum in Rio de Janeiro. Most of the building has been destroyed along with two hundred years of work, research and knowledge. The Museum was home to 20 million artefacts. A lack of funding and resources is being blamed as the reason why The National Museum of Brazil went up on smoke. Deputy director at the museum, Luiz Fernando Dias Duarte told the BBC he was deeply saddened by the fire. Guyon Espiner talks to our correspondent in Rio de Janeiro Matt Sandy.
