Pacific Islands Forum: Peters heads for Nauru

From Morning Report, 7:19 am on 3 September 2018

Pacific leaders are converging on the tiny island nation of Nauru this week for their annual forum. Regional security and other pressing issues like climate change will be top of the formal agenda. But leaders will also be confronted with the refugees who are being detained just kilometres from the forum events. Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern is weighing up whether she will meet refugees saying it may unfairly raise their expectations about what she can do. RNZ political reporter Gia Garrick is travelling to Nauru and filed this report.
