Under-5s with disabilities waiting longer for diagnosis

From Morning Report, 6:10 am on 3 September 2018

Early childhood groups are dismayed by a blow-out in waiting times for early intervention for under-five-year-olds with special needs. The average wait for help has jumped from 72 days to 99 days in 2017-18 and in Wellington the delay is more than double that figure at 196 days. Amanda Coulston from kindergartens in the Wellington region told RNZ education correspondent, John Gerritsen, they long waiting times are tough on children and their teachers.
