Ngāi Te Rangi boss wants more clarity over Awanui Black case

From Morning Report, 6:43 am on 31 August 2018

The chief executive of Ngai Te Rangi, Paora Stanley, says he will be writing to the Police Commissioner to find out what their next action is over the case of Te Awanuiarangi Black. The high profile Maori leader died in 2016. In a video posted online last month, his widow, Anihera Black, accused him of involvement in a paedophile ring. Yesterday Bay of Plenty police said they'd found no evidence to substantiate the allegation and they were unable to take the matter any further. But they said they'd welcome more information from the public. Mr Stanley told RNZ reporter Kate Gudsell it sounds like they are trying to leave the case open.
