Central Aucklanders face re-applying for resource consents

A planning lawyer says the Auckland Council's unitary plan is so complicated it's hardly surprising the council has managed to mess up hundreds of resource consents. The council said yesterday it has misinterpreted its own rules regarding 430 consents granted between December 2016 and 2017, where special character rules apply. Property-owners now have to reapply for the consents and some, who've already called in the builders, have to put the work on hold.
