Anglican Church wants rules to govern property managers

From Morning Report, 6:10 am on 30 August 2018

The Anglican Church is calling for rules to govern rental property managers, saying some are deceitful and manipulative and too easily able to get away with illegal behaviour. The director of the Anglican Advocacy Unit, Jolyon White, says property managers should be subject to legal oversight. Mr White says the industry should be subject to a code of conduct, managers should have to sit exams and get a licence and there should be a regulatory body to oversee them. He wants the government to act. Housing Minister Phil Twyford has announced plans to overhaul tenancy laws. He says he hasn't ruled out bringing in rules for property managers once that's done.
