Archbishop calls for Pope to resign over priest's abuse

From Morning Report, 6:43 am on 27 August 2018

A Catholic Archbishop is calling for Pope Francis to resign, after he claimed that the pontiff failed to take action against a priest accused of sexually abusing students. Carlo Maria Viganò was the Vatican's envoy to the US for five years until 2016. He claims the Pope knew as early as 2013 about charges against the former archbishop of Washington, ex-Cardinal Theodore McCarrick. Our Vatican correspondent Sabina Castelfranco told me the Archbishop says the Pope should resign but there's accusations he himself tried to stop an investigation into another US bishop.
