Polytechnic bailouts near $100m - analysis

The crisis in polytechnics has deepened with the Government bailing out two more institutions, Unitec in Auckland and Whitireia in Porirua. The $65 million advanced to the two is on top of the 33-million given to the West Coast's Tai Poutini Polytechnic in February. And the government is also considering sacking the council that oversees Whitireia and it's partner institution the Wellington Institute of Technology and appointing a commissioner in its place.
