Mayors, councillors see pay rises as MPs' pay frozen

Back now to the pay freeze for MPs and the cancelling the bonuses for state sector chief executives. It doesn't look like there are similar sentiments in local government. This month mayors and councillors received some hefty pay rises. Their pay is also set by the Remuneration Authority and some mayors had a pay rise of up to 12 percent.
