Lombok hit by series of strong earthquakes

From Morning Report, 7:14 am on 20 August 2018

The Indonesian island of Lombok has been rocked by a series of strong earthquakes. RNZ deputy foreign editor Liz Brown joins us with the details. Three strong earthquakes hit the island overnight. The strongest - which measured magnitude 6.9 - hit about 3am (NZ time) - which was late at night in Lombok. It followed two quakes a few hours earlier - they measured 6.3 and 5.4. They were all centred on the island's northeast and could also be felt in Bali. No tsunami alerts were issued. There are reports one person has been killed and the quakes have caused widespread power outages and landslides.
