Heavy police presence at Washington far-right rally

From Morning Report, 7:22 am on 13 August 2018

Washington DC is the latest battleground over racial tensions in the United States. Far-right groups are about to hold a "Unite the Right 2" rally at Lafayette Square park, across the street from the White House. It is being billed as a "white civil rights rally" meant to protest "civil rights abuse in Charlottesville". It comes one year after one person was killed and 19 others injured when a car rammed a crowd of people opposing a far-right rally in the city of Charlottesville. Two state troopers also died in a helicopter crash while responding to the violence. Opposing rallies are also taking place today. Our correspondent, Harry Horton, is in Washington at Lafayette Square.
