Bachcare considers legal action over targeted rate
The holiday home company Bachcare is considering legal action over Auckland Council's new targeted rate for online accomodation providers. The council says the rate will bring those using platforms such as Airbnb, in line with hotels and motels. Bachcare's founder Leslie Preston says some holiday home owners are facing rates hikes of between 200 and 300 percent. She told RNZ reporter Nita Blake-Persen that the process in deciding on new rate was flawed.
