Nurses pay rise won't benefit most Māori nurses

From Morning Report, 7:16 am on 1 August 2018

A nurses leader has spoken out about pay offers to nurses at District Health Boards, saying most Māori nurses will miss out on any pay rises. Nurses are currently voting on the latest DHB offer, which is a proposed package that includes pay rises of between 12.5 and 16 percent. But the New Zealand Nurses Organisation says a majority of Māori nurses won't see the gains because many are not employed by DHBs. As Leigh-Marama McLachlan reports, many Māori nurses are grappling with lower pay as it is.
