Out of control wildfire rages in northern California

From Morning Report, 8:20 am on 30 July 2018

A federal state of emergency has been declared in Northern California as 3,500 firefighters battle an out of control wildfire. Five people have now been killed in the Carr fire which is burning in and around the town of Redding, doubling in size in the past day. The latest casualties are two children and their great-grandmother found dead in a house. At least 500 homes and buildings have been destroyed and up to 40,000 people have been evacuated. Shasta County Sheriff Tom Bosanko says people in the area must be ready to leave at a moment's notice.
