'Super Saturday' for Labor in Australia by-elections
It wasn't such a super Saturday for the Australian Prime Minister Malcom Turnbull and his ruling coalition after they took a battering in a raft of by-elections at the weekend - seen as a litmus test for the country's next general election. Labor won four of the contested seats and an independent candidate claimed the fifth - in the polls dubbed Super Saturday. The Coalition failed to win any. The by-elections were triggered by parliament's dual-citizenship crisis. Labor leader Bill Shorten said it was another signpost towards a Labor government after the next general election.
