Toxic foam: 'She'll be right' attitude 'rapidly falling apart'

A new grassroots coalition in Australia says a federal inquiry shows New Zealand is unwise to rely on advice from across the Tasman about the threat from firefighting foam contamination. The inquiry at Williamtown near Newcastle has heard how the contamination is damaging local property values, businesses and people's lives. Locals told MPs that official information about the toxic PFAS chemicals has been changed repeatedly and the contamination zones have kept expanding. New Zealand is relying on health and technical advice from the Australian government about PFAS. Chris Fogarty, a spokesperson for the newly formed nationwide Coalition Against PFAS in Australia, spoke to RNZ reporter Phil Pennington.
