Australian Archbishop sentenced for hiding child abuse

From Morning Report, 8:24 am on 4 July 2018

A man who was sexually abused as a child by an Australian Catholic priest says the Archbishop of Adelaide knew about a paedophile priest who abused at least one girl in New Zealand. Archbishop Philip Wilson was sentenced yesterday to a year's detention for concealing child abuse by priest James Fletcher in the 1970s. He is the highest ranked Catholic in the world to be convicted for the offence. One of Fletcher's many victims was Peter Gogarty, now a 57 year old university lecturer in criminology. He was in court to hear Wilson being sentenced and spoke to RNZ reporter Phil Pennington.
