All NZ drinking water should be treated - water lobby group boss

From Morning Report, 7:21 am on 3 July 2018

Water industry lobby group Water New Zealand is warning that small tourist towns are at risk of another Havelock North-style gastro outbreak. More than 5000 people became sick in August 2016 from campylobacter spread through Havelock North's drinking water. The latest figures from the Ministry of Health show one in five New Zealanders are drinking water from a public supply that does not meet all the current drinking water standards. And areas at greatest risk include some of our most iconic tourist destinations - such as Tekapo, Punakaiki and Waitomo. John Pfahlert is the chief executive of Water New Zealand. He talks to Guyon Espiner.
