Medical students' loan cap lifted
The government is lifting the student loan cap for people studying medicine and other long undergraduate degrees, like dentistry and optometry. The seven-year borrowing limit, brought in by the previous government, has been criticised because it's left some students trying to find another way to pay for their final years at university. But from January the first next year, that limit will be extended to 10 years. Chayce Glass from the Māori Medical Students' Association, Te Oranga, told our reporter Sarah Robson that the cap was causing many students a lot of stress.
