NZ pivotal in mapping world's seabed
New Zealand is to play a pivotal role in an international project to map the entire world's seabed by 2030. The announcement was made in Wellington on Thursday afternoon that NIWA, Land Information New Zealand and GNS will head the South and West Pacific Ocean Regional Centre. NIWA principal scientist and head of the new Centre Dr Geoffroy Lamarche told RNZ Science and Innovation reporter Charlie Dreaver New Zealand will be in charge of 124 million sqaure kilometres of seabed.
