Republicans urge Trump to soften migrant child detention policy

More than 2,300 children have been separated from their parents since April, when the Trump administration launched its "zero tolerance" immigration policy. More than 100 of those children are under the age of four. Ginger Thompson from ProPublica told CNN it was excruitating to listen to children crying. Despite what has been a bipartisan outcry from lawmakers in Washington, President Trump and members of his cabinet are aggressively defending his policy of separating children from their parents at the Mexican border.
