'I understand the anguish' in Tolaga Bay - Shane Jones

From Morning Report, 7:25 am on 13 June 2018

Farmers in Tolaga Bay are considering legal action against forestry companies for the damage done to stock and properties by tonnes of flood-borne logging debris. Heavy rain caused even more damage to farms and roads last night, a week after flash flooding left tonnes of debris strewn over properties. Bridget Parker told Checkpoint her farm has suffered at least $600,000-worth of damage, but at a meeting with the forestry companies on Monday night, it was clear they don't think they are responsible. Shane Jones is the Forestry Minister. He tells us he's appointed a panel of forestry experts to advise him and until then he's in no position to say who's to blame for the situation or who should have to pay for the clean up.
