National will be watching Winston - political analysis

There was only one winner but both major parties are claiming victory in the Northcote by-election. National's Dan Bidois won the seat on Saturday. However Labour's Shanan Halbert sliced thousands off the majority, which was over 6000 in the general election to 1300. About 43 percent of those enrolled voted in the by-election.
