Auckland central foreign buyers near 20 percent - stats

The government is saying 'we told you so' as new figures suggest overseas buyers are a significant force in the country's housing hotspots. In the first three months of the year, 19 percent of house sales in central Auckland were to foreign buyers and just under ten percent in Queenstown. But National says nationwide the numbers are low and warns it hasn't forgotten Labour's racist attack on people with Chinese-sounding surnames.
