From Morning Report, 6:18 am on 6 June 2018

The head of Awataha Marae in Auckland is stunned a former employee may have to leave the country after a decision by Immigration New Zealand that some are labelling anti-Maori. Anthony Wilson says marae restaurant manager Minalben Prajapati had her work visa denied after her immigration officer decided she wasn't actually performing a manager's role and carrying out such tasks as planning menus. Her immigration adviser, the former Immigration Minister Tuariki Delamere, says the officer made racist assumptions about how marae operate and has laid a formal complaint. Anthony Harris says the the Awataha Marae business caters to large groups most days of the week and it's offensive to suggest the marae does not plan its menu
