Cheap Asian methamphetamine swamping NZ market

From Morning Report, 6:38 am on 3 May 2018

A detective with nearly 30 years' experience says hardly any methamphetamine is made in this country anymore, as it's far more economical for gangs to import it from Asia. A new study by Massey University shows a sharp rise in the use of imported crystal meth, which is so cheap and easy to get that it's more available than cannabis. The head of the Police Eastern District's Organised Crime Unit, Detective Senior Sergeant Brent Greville, says 90 percent of his investigations are trying to stop gangs wholesaling the drug. He told RNZ reporter Anusha Bradley meth is the most insidious drug he's ever dealth with.
