Farmer destroys third of endangered shrub species
A Canterbury farmer has laid waste to a threatened native shrub, knocking out a third of the species in one fell swoop. Once abundant along the East Coast, muehlenbeckia astonii -- or shrubby tororaro -- is now down to three-thousand-seven-hundred plants, most of those on private farm land on Kaitorete Spit near Banks Peninsula.
