Radiology under review after teen's fatal cancer missed

From Morning Report, 6:10 am on 1 May 2018

A district health board has been asked to review its radiology department after missing signs that a teenage cancer patient's brain tumour was coming back. The 16-year-old girl who died three years ago had been diagnosed with a high-risk tumour when she was 10 and had neurosurgery to have it removed. The Health and Disability Commissioner Anthony Hill says told RNZ reporter Nita Blake-Person the teenager had regular follow-up MRI scans but a radiologist misread the 2014 result.
