Whangarei pool inspections after failed saftey checks

Whangarei's council is planning to inspect every swimming pool in town after an audit indicated many might fail safety standards. Council staff found 10 out of 11 Whangarei pools they checked had problems such as insecure fencing or trees that children could use to climb over pool fences. The council's chief executive Rob Forlong told our Northland reporter Lois Williams it realised there was a problem after staff found a fence approved years ago was not safe.
