SH1 to Whangarei 'unfit' - Northland Road Transport chair

From Morning Report, 6:15 am on 19 April 2018

The chairman of Northland's Road Transport Committee John Bain says it's deeply disappointing that the government has shelved plans to rebuild State Highway One between Whangarei and Warkworth where the current motorway is set to end. The previous National-led government had promised Northland a four-lane carriageway with median barriers. John Bain says State Highway one is Northland's most important regional road and economic artery - but many parts of it have long been unfit for purpose.
