Ending oil, gas: New Plymouth mayor, petrol boss respond

The government has announced this morning there will be no new permits issued for offshore oil and gas exploration. Onshore permits will still be on offer for the next three years in Taranaki only. Cameron Madgwick is the chief executive of Petroleum Exploration and Production Association of New Zealand and Neil Holdom is the mayor of New Plymouth. "It shows a complete misunderstanding by the government about how our sector works," Mr Madgwick says.
