'This is a chance for a well-integrated air ambulance sector'

Rescue helicopter bases in Taupo, Rotorua and Te Anau may close as part of a proposed re-design of air ambulance services. Locals say closing the bases could cause unnecessary delays and put lives at risk. But the Ministry of Health insists it's trying to modernise the service and no decisions have been set in stone. Ian Civil is the clinical leader of the Major Trauma Network. He tells Philippa Tolley New Zealand has never really had a well-integrated air ambulance sector, and if it's done right, this is now a chance for that to happen.
