Immigration NZ using data to predict likely troublemakers

Immigrants could be on a fast track to deportation if they belong to a demographic group identified as being frequently in trouble with the police or a burden to taxpayers. Immigration New Zealand is using data modelling to predict potential troublemakers, and is working out if it can reduce future costs by using that data to predict which people will cause problems. Alistair Murray, the head of compliance and investigations at Immigration New Zealand, spoke to our reporter Gill Bonnett.
