Is the Gold Coast as good it gets for NZ athletes?

Beaches, theme parks and schoolies week is what the Gold Coast is renowned for. And today, it officially become the host of the 21st Commonwealth Games, with the opening ceremony being held tonight. It'll be the fifth time Australia has hosted the event. It's 28 years since New Zealand last hosted the Games in Auckland in 1990.
