Needles found at Commonwealth Games, testing underway

From Morning Report, 7:42 am on 3 April 2018

The Indian Commonwealth Games team say there's nothing suspicious about needles found near their athletes' quarters. Games officials say the discovery was a clear breach of rules banning needles within the Games Village. It says one of the competing teams will appear before the Commonwealth Games Federation's Court on Tuesday. They've yet to name the country involved, but the Indian team revealed the needles were in their area, and a coach told the host broadcaster, the Seven Network, they were used to give an unwell boxer a vitamin treatment. RNZ's sports editor, Stephen Hewson, speaks to Philippa Tolley from the Gold Coast.
