MPI facing tougher battle with cow disease

The Ministry for Primary Industries' investigation of how cow disease mycoplasma bovis arrived in New Zealand focused on three properties on Wednesday, which were raided by ministry officials. But as a mass cull of cattle gets underway in a bid to control the disease, the ministry's expert advisors want more research to establish whether a costly eradication campaign is even worthwhile. Susie Ferguson speaks to MPI's response director Geoff Gwynn who says the origin of the disease looks to be either Europe or the US.
