Curran, Hirschfeld meeting: The fallout, explained

Senior RNZ news executive Carol Hirschfeld stepped down on Tuesday after admitting she misled RNZ's chief executive Paul Thompson about a meeting she had with Broadcasting Minister Clare Curran late last year.

Staff at the broadcaster are expected to maintain independence by avoiding private talks with politicians. To add to that, RNZ is in line for a significant funding boost from the new government to expand its operations into television. So is this now in jeopardy?
