New Zealand First is causing problems again for Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern with MP Jenny Marcroft accused of threatening to use taxpayer cash to silence political criticism.
National's Rodney MP Mark Mitchell says Ms Marcroft had told him to back off criticising NZ First Ministers if he wanted a project in his Rodney electorate to get public funding.
The NZ First Leader Winston Peters says Ms Marcroft has now apologised for "a conversation that had got out of hand" but Mr Mitchell disputes that.
