Landlords, not tenants, should pay letting fees - Twyford

From Morning Report, 7:42 am on 23 March 2018

Housing Minister Phil Twyford is confident banning letting fees will save renters money. Landlords can charge tenants a fee - usually a week's rent - to cover what they have paid letting agents. Mr Twyford says about $47 million a year is charged in letting fees, with the bulk of that being passed onto renters. He says it's gouging. Mr Twyford tells Susie Ferguson why he's so confident the ban won't raise rents.
