Ex-Waikato DHB chair blamed for Murray fiasco

From Morning Report, 7:20 am on 23 March 2018

An outspoken Waikato District Health Board member, Dave Macpherson, says the disgraced former DHB chief executive Nigel Murray and the board's former chair Bob Simcock should not try to deflect blame over the expenses scandal. During his three years at the DHB,

Dr Murray spent just over $218,000 dollars on travel, accommodation and related expenses. A State Services Commission investigation has found more than half was unjustified and has referred its report to the Serious Fraud Office. The Commission criticised the board for allowing the spending to carry on for so long and said Dr Murray's former boss DHB chair Bob Simcock had been too trusting. But Mr Simcock who resigned suddenly last year is blaming the DHB's accounts department.

We're joined by DHB member Dave Macpherson who's been an outspoken critic of both Dr Murray and Mr Simcock.
