Govt snipes at Air NZ over regional flights

The government's telling Air New Zealand it could wield influence over the airline when appointments to its board come up for renewal later this year. Shane Jones has publicly criticised the airline for cutting flights to the regions, and Winston Peters has previously been critical of the airline for its support of Barack Obama's visit to New Zealand. The airline has hit back, saying it will act independently of the Crown.
