Govt could steer Air NZ in board appointments - Robertson

From Morning Report, 6:43 am on 21 March 2018

Finance Minister Grant Robertson has suggested the government could wield some influence over Air New Zealand through board appointments. Another minister, Shane Jones, has been publicly criticising the airline's decisions after it cut some flights to the regions. Air New Zealand withdrew its service into Kapiti Coast earlier in March. Three years ago it decided to stop flying to Kaitaia, Whakatane, Westport and Taupo. Mr Robertson told parliamentary reporters despite the government owning 51 percent of the shares, Air New Zealand makes its own decisions.
