NZ buried attempted assassination inquiry - ex-Russian spy

From Morning Report, 8:10 am on 16 March 2018

A former Russian spy who defected to the West says New Zealand authorities quietly buried any investigation into two chemical attacks on him in Auckland over a decade ago. Boris Karpichkov fled from London to New Zealand in fear of his life in 2006, but says he was tracked down by a KGB assassin who tried to poison him on Auckland's Queen Street in November of that year. He says he's happy to help with any re-investigation of his claims but says he's not holding out much help that that offer will be taken up. Mr Karpichkov has been in touch with Morning Report deputy editor Kim Griggs. She discussses the details with Susie Ferguson.
