Work and Income 'wrong' to reject woman seeking help

From Morning Report, 8:46 am on 12 March 2018

The Social Security Appeal Authority says Work and Income was wrong to turn away a woman seeking help because she'd come to what it deemed to be the wrong office. She had gone to the Manurewa office seeking a special needs grant, but was told to apply in Mangere, where she lives. The Auckland Action Against Poverty group says it showed the authority's decision to managers at both Onehunga and Manurewa Work and Income offices last week, but they're still turning people away. The group's spokesperson is Alastair Russell. He talks to Guyon Espiner.
