Police 'letting themselves down' on pursuits policy - Manning
The police are facing renewed criticism of their pursuit policy but say drivers who choose to flee have a choice to stop. A second review in ten years into the police's policy for giving chase to fleeing vehicles is underway with the results due to be released later this year. Assistant commissioner for Road Policing Sandra Venables says the message to drivers is still the same. Barrister Deborah Manning has advised the families of people killed in police pursuits. She talks to Guyon Espiner.
