Govt, Opposition left scrambling over energy scheme

Government and opposition are both furiously scrambling to explain their support for a project linked to a businessman who's under the scrutiny of the Serious Fraud Office. RNZ revealed yesterday the Government had allocated $350,000 for a feasibility study for the waste to energy scheme on the West Coast last week, completely unaware the company's chief executive is in the sights of fraud investigators. And while the government immediately put the project on ice, it's doing its best to try to drag National's new leader Simon Bridges into the fray. Political reporter Benedict Collins has more.
