NZ cancer care falling behind Australia - Cancer Society

From Morning Report, 7:14 am on 19 February 2018

The Cancer Society says adult cancer care has stalled and a gap with Australia will widen unless more is done. Based on the latest international cancer survival results, the society adds that 2,500 more New Zealanders would have survived cancer if they'd lived across the ditch. A melanoma survivor, Leisa Renwick, says she needed strong family backing and funding to overcome barriers here. The society's calling for a 10-year strategy, greater planning and coordination and other fixes to improve care for key cancers. RNZ health correspondent Karen Brown joins Susie Ferguson with the details.
