The government and Auckland Council say they may go ahead with an America's Cup Village design different to the one already planned.
The new option, which could cost around $185 million, shortens a planned extension of Halsey Street Wharf from 75 to 35 metres - and comes as a surprise to Cup holders Team New Zealand.
The America's Cup is due to be held in 2021 and planning is being overseen by senior Cabinet Minister David Parker, who joins Guyon Espiner to discuss. There shouldn't be more concrete going in to the harbour, he says.
